Built by  R &W Hawthorn Leslie & Coy.Ltd Newcastle -Upton-Tyne UK.

Wallaby worked at Hoskins Kembla Works Lithgow NSW 1913 to 1930, Wallaby was then Transferred to AIS  Cringila August of 1932 it was then sold to South Kembla Colliery and returned to AIS in September of 1933.

Wallaby worked at Port Kembla from 1933 until November  19th 1962 and was withdrawn from service and placed on Static Display June 5th 1963 at the former AIS Visitors Centre.

Illawarra Light Railway Museum obtained Wallaby via donation along with Burra Ex Corrimal Colliery on December 1st 1978. On arrival at ILRMS Wallaby was repaired and painted through out September/October 1979, it went to have a repaint circa 1990 and was painted in the blue livery circa 2005.

On December 5th 2025 the ILRMS as a community event celebrated 47 years since the arrival of both Wallaby and Burra and in 2025 Wallaby turns 112 years old, it should be noted that prior to the celebrations of 2025 is that Wallaby was repainted in the Maroon Livery and has stood the test of time of Industrial Railway Operations of past years and for future generations to enjoy.
